Philip Pika joins CryoEco
We are happy to announce Philip Pika is joining our team to work on the project MARCH4G as a postdoctoral research assistant.
Philip did his PhD at the Free University Brussels (Belgium) in marine biogeochemistry, modelling the effects of organic matter reactivity on benthic-pelagic coupling in marine sediments, with our project collaborator Sandra Arndt. He continued his modelling work at the Free University Amsterdam (Netherlands) focusing on carbon biogeochemistry in Arctic rivers and on estimating ice content in permafrost landscapes. He will now be focusing on the mathematical modelling of subglacial biogeochemical processes that drive methane export to quantify the potential fluxes and implications of subglacially derived carbon released from the Greenland Ice Sheet.
